January 24, 2024At the Uganda Disabled Women's Association (UDWA), we are dedicated to fostering sustainable development that empowers women with disabilities and strengthens our communities.
Our initiatives include the production and sale of handcrafted candles and crafts, alongside our agribusiness efforts in sugarcane cultivation, poultry rearing, and piggery.
These activities not only generate essential income to support our programs but also promote resilience and self-sufficiency. Agriculture is vital to Uganda’s economy, providing numerous employment opportunities.
By focusing on sugarcane farming, we create a steady source of revenue through sales, which directly funds our projects. This initiative not only supports the financial stability of our organization but also allows women to gain valuable skills in agribusiness, enhancing their economic independence. In addition to sugarcane, our poultry and piggery projects contribute to food security while generating additional income.
These ventures empower women to take charge of their livelihoods, ensuring they can provide for their families and invest in their futures.
The integration of our craft production and agribusiness ventures is at the heart of our sustainability strategy. .
Revenue from the sale of our candles and crafts supports our agricultural initiatives, while insights gained from farming practices enhance our product offerings.
This interconnected approach helps us build a robust and self-reliant community.
Environmental responsibility is also a key focus for UDWA.
We are committed to using sustainable materials in our candle-making process, minimizing waste, and promoting eco-friendly practices.
By implementing responsible farming techniques, we ensure that our agricultural activities protect the environment and contribute to a healthier ecosystem.
As we look to the future, our aim is to create a sustainable model that uplifts women and girls with disabilities and serves as an example of community resilience.
Through training, advocacy, and collaboration, UDWA is committed to empowering women and girls with disability to thrive and contribute to a more sustainable and inclusive society.
Together, we are building a brighter future for all.
