Advocacy for the Rights of Women with Disabilities.
January 31, 2024Empowerment of disabled women.
March 31, 2024MEDICAL CAMP by UDWA
The Uganda Disabled Women's Association (UDWA), is a vital organization that empowers women with disabilities and their children in Uganda.
The organization has undertaken projects to increase nutrition through increasing food security, provision of sexual and reproductive health services and rights, sensitation on HIV/AIDs, rehabilitation of women with disabilities who are victims of torture, provision of relief in terms of auxiliaries such as wheelchairs, clutches etc, food, clothes among others and provision of employment opportunities through acquired vacation skills training and financial capital access.
However, funding limitations have been a challenge, affecting the scope of our initiatives. People with disabilities in Uganda face numerous challenges in accessing healthcare, including physical barriers, stigma, discrimination, and inadequate facilities.
These barriers are compounded by broader issues such as poverty which further limit access to necessary services. Effort are ongoing to address these changes and improve the inclusivity and accessibility of health care services for people with disabilities especially women. Join us at our office premises located along Jinja-Kampala highway off Kawesi road, behind the former global paints factory for a medical camp with services including sexual and reproductive health such as family planning, cervical and breast cancer screening,HIV/AIDS counseling and testing, general medical examinations, orthopedics, physiotherapy and rehabilitation services. This event is open to all, emphasizing care for women with disabilities and their children and the wider community.
Everyone is welcome
